Individual therapy allows the client and therapist to build a rapport and work together to bring resolution to the presenting issues. Here at Healing Rivers together we will identify the presenting life struggles and explore the origin and source of these issues. Together we explore the story of one’s life for understanding and together we consider how to move forward.
“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” — C. S. Lewis
Couples therapy focuses on the couples relationship to help bring resolution to ongoing conflict, to bring understanding and support when mental illness is present, and to improve the relationship. The couple and the therapist work together to explore the unresolved issues in the relationship through psycho education including; healthy relationship skills, communication, boundaries, and conflict resolution. Couples therapy is a safe place to have the hard conversations. In couples therapy the goal is for the couple to experience a shift in their relationship toward connection.
Our entire team is certified in the Prepare/Enrich Assessment tool for dating, engaged and married couples.
“From powerless to powerful, from control to self control, from the goal of distance to the goal of connection, and from fear to love” —Danny Silk Author of the book: Keep Your Love On
Family therapy offers families a way to develop or maintain a healthy, functional family. Our family affects who we are and who we become. Our family is the first place we learned about love, conflict, the world around us, and relationships. If you come from or are in a family that struggles to connect with one another, you may struggle to connect with others. If you are in a family where addiction or mental illness is present it is most likely that you and your family may be struggling.
“Family therapy is necessary to address family pain and heal a family’s wounds”.
—Virginia Satir “The Mother of Family Therapy”
Tricia Vogelsang is passionate about helping the helpers, especially therapists and pastors. Those in the helping profession often find it difficult to find a safe place to talk and share about their own life issues. Yet, the need remains strong for healing in the helpers. We are only able to give in the capacity from which we ourselves are healed. We can’t give away what we don’t have. Healing Rivers is a place for the helpers to experience healing, refreshment and freedom to then go and help others.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
